What will happen in the second longest race of the season?

It has been a long wait, but we are finally back! Following the postponement of the race in December, the 1000 Miles of Sebring was moved to January. Drivers and teams got the chance to have an additional month to prepare for the big stage. Following a quick stop in Europe, at Istanbul, the eSport Endurance Series shifts back to America.

Longer race, higher stakes

The 1000 Miles of Sebring is a unique race. The second longest race on the calendar awards more points compared to the 6-hours events. This month, you can forget the old points’ scheme. Also, this is the only distance-based race on the calendar. There will also be a time limit in case of rain, which is not expected at the moment, but you never know… More points up for grabs means that teams have a big chance to give themselves a much needed push that might be useful as we approach the second half of the season. Think about the Hypercar standings: with four teams separated by 12 points at the front, this is a massive chance to make a statement.

Hypercar update

Hypercar class is getting a much needed update in Sebring

The long winter break delivered a much needed updated for the Hypercar class. All teams involved got the chance to try out some changes to the car and approved them. Judging by the drivers’ feedbacks, driveability has been improved, even though there could be more work to be done. Of course, changing dramatically physics in the middle of the championship would not be fair, so the main focus here was to make the car more enjoyable for everyone involved. A bumpy track like Sebring will definitely be a good testing ground for Hypercar teams.

New entries joining the grid

For the first big event of the season, eSport Endurance Series is welcoming to the grid three new entries: GOTeam Racing is joining the grid in LMP2, while Grow Racing Team will hit the track with two cars, in LMP2 and LMGTE. The points’ gap from the top spots might already be too big, but they will definitely play a big parte in the remainder of the season as they are here to stay and are not simply wild cards.

Enough with the small talk, it’s time to go racing once again! Tomorrow, Saturday 21st January at 16:00 CET, the green flag will drop on the iconic American track. Make sure to tune in on Pitlane TV to not miss the action!
